Automated Robotic Inspection Cell for Medical Grade products
Problem
Medical customer required higher throughput & reliability for their current manual inspection of several custom product lines.
Solution
Novum designed, developed, built, and tested a turn-key robotic automation cell to perform all part-handling required between customer’s inspection equipment. Robotic cell would acquire parts from custom-made pallets, pass parts through required inspection equipment, then based on result sort into pass/fail pallets.
Solution utilized Universal Robotics UR5e collaborative robot, Keyence LS-9000 optical micrometer, Keyence Light Curtains, and a Sylvac inspection system.
Test Cell built utilizing 80/20 Aluminium Extrusions and plexiglass
Robotic cell exceeded customer’s throughput inspection requirements and allows for 24/7 operation with minimal operator interaction (only loading & unloading of part pallets)
Novum performed all UR Programming & On-Site validation for a successful on-site FAT run-off
